Hollywood’s Red Carpet Was Sprinkled With Hints Of Cannabis Green For Television’s Biggest Night
As First Reported By: Andre Bourque
A funny thing happened in the way I got to the Emmys, a green wave unexpectedly ushered me there. I’m not a costume designer or screenwriter, and as tragic as it is to admit, haven’t watched a single episode of Game of Thrones. Nonetheless, I forged my way to the blue carpet (the red variety was unavailable for mere mortals) by way of Hollywood cannabis culture.
Hollywood award shows aren’t new to cannabis, though. Earlier this year, the 90th Academy Awards celebs were treated to marijuana swag bags backstage at the Oscars. Last year, “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” was nominated for a 2017 Emmy award in the “Host for a Reality/Reality-Competition Program” category. And who can forget Sarah Silverman revealing her “pot pen” on national television when she won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special category back in 2014.
Things have changed in 2018. In the first year of California statewide marijuana legalization, it’s become much easier to openly talk about the enigmatic plant. A purse containing a marijuana vape pen wouldn’t even make the local news, today. And the idea that a Hollywood cannabis influencer such as I was invited to an award show, is a noteworthy demonstration of an outward and open rebuke of age-old marijuana stigmas in and of itself.
