Minecraft: the Story Of Mojang Hits DVD December 23
On December 23rd, Minecraft gamers will have the chance to purchase a DVD copy of 2 Player Productions' documentary, Minecraft: The Story of Mojang. This comes in the wake of the release of Minecraft The Story of Mojang for Xbox 360 on Saturday, December 22.
The DVD will be on sale until Fangamer for $20 The first 7,000 copies being packaged in the custom "dirt brown" case, which comes with a reversible cover and the code to get downloading the film in HD 720p. You can also stream the film or buy it directly from the official website. After you're done, go back to Minecraft and play - the massive lava tower will not build itself.
WORLDWIDE - On Sunday, December 23rd at 12:00am EST (9pm PST/11pm GMT/10pm CET) Minecraft: The Story of Mojang will be available for sale worldwide on DVD through Fangamer and digital download and streaming at theminecraftmovie.com, powered by Redux.
Fangamer will offer the DVD copy of the film for $20.00 USD The first 7000 copies of which will come with a limited edition custom "dirt brown" DVD case as well as a reversible case with unique artwork on the b-side and a redemption code for a free 720p version of the film. Redux, an online content service offers the film as a download-to own option, and streaming on the internet, mobile, tablets and connected TVs for $8.00 USD.
Saturday, December 22nd, at 8:00 pm (EST) (5pm PST/7pm GMT/8pm CT), Minecraft will be shown live on Xbox Live in the U.S. and U.K. All Xbox Live Gold members will receive the movie at no cost.
The documentary follows Minecraft creator Markus Persson after his rise to fame in 2011 . It explores the ins and outs of building an online game company. Minecraft remains an enormous success, with more than 17.5 millions copies sold worldwide.
Minecraft: The Story of Mojang was funded via Kickstarter.com by 3,641 donors. It took close to two years to complete. 2 Player Productions decided not to use traditional distribution methods and festival screenings as the film was crowd-funded.
