Minecraft Adds Tribute to Technoblade Following the Death of Streamer
Minecraft has been updated with a tribute to the streamer Technoblade, whose death from cancer was announced by his family this week. The splash image for Minecraft in the game's launcher now features a pig wearing a golden crown, a reference to Technoblade's Minecraft character, a royal pig-man wearing the bejeweled crown.
The Minecraft team tweeted on Friday that the team was "heartbroken over the loss of Technoblade," writing that he "brought so much joy" to the game's community.

Technoblade was a hugely popular Minecraft streamer, with more than 13 million users on YouTube and was a part of the popular server Dream SMP. In a YouTube video that was released last Thursday, Technoblade's dad read an email from Technoblade and talked about the work that went into this final video while he was struggling with cancer. The video has been watched more than 54 million times as of the time of writing.
Tributes to Technoblade have poured in from other streamers and members of the Minecraft creator community. Many pieces of fanart were also posted to Twitter in memory of Technoblade during the past days.
Although the Minecraft team hasn't yet acknowledged the splash screen update, it clearly made this small change to honor. The original launcher image still features a pig in the exact place, but it's missing the trademark crown of Technoblade.
