How To Play Minecraft On LAN [TLauncher]

The game offers the ability to create a local server within your world. All players on your network will be able connect to your server. While everything is fairly straightforward, there are many limitations. In this article, we will go over each one in detail. Select the configuration you wish to use from the content and follow the instructions.

Server configuration when you are connected to the same Wi Fi network or LAN network as another player

This setting is best if you have multiple computers that are close together and are connected to the same Wi-Fi network or LAN network (connected via cable).

Windows: Open the Start Menu on the PC that will host the server. In the search box, type cmd to open this program.

Type ipconfig in the open window and hit enter. Look for your local IP, which starts with 192.168.*. *, for example, 192.168.1.47. Yours will be the other! Copy it.

MacOS: To locate the local IP, open Terminal (you can search for it in the Mac search), then type ifconfig * to copy it.

Go to your world and in the Pause menu (Esc) click Open to LAN. Chat will display a message regarding the successful opening and the server port, 31790 for the example (you'll have another).

Open the version with the Til icon on another PC. (also, the game version must be the same on both PCs). Next, go to Multiplayer and then click Direct connect.

Now enter the IP address + port that we got earlier, 192.168.1.47:31790 in the example. If everything is okay, the connection should be established. You can now play on the server with a friend.

Server Configuration When Playing over the Internet with Another Player Using Hamachi

If you cannot be with another player on the same network physically, because PCs are far from each other, you can create a special network over the Internet using Hamachi.

Make sure you have both the PCs and the Hamachi account created. Then, download the program by clicking the Download button in the middle.

Install the program. Now, on one of the PCs logged in Hamachi click on "Create a new network", enter ANY network name and any password. The new network will now appear in the window.

Now open TLauncher, choose the version with the TL icon and run the game (it is better to login to the TLauncher.org account). If you choose the version that does not have the TL icon, you won't be able to connect with the server without a Mojang licence.

Go to your World and click Open to LAN in the Pause menu. The chat will display a message about the successful opening of the server, as well as the server port, 60000 in the example (you will have another).

Click on another computer and click "Connect to an established network". Paxton's blog Enter the network name, password, and create a new connection. If the connection is successful, your friend's PC will be visible in the Hamachi window.

You should also open the version on another computer with the TL icon (also, the version on the first PC must be the same), go to Multiplayer, and then open Direct connect.

Now, enter the address from Hamachi in the IP field (of the PC, on which the server is opened) + port that we got earlier, 25.60.187.78:60000 in the example. If everything is in order, the connection will now be established. Now you can play on the server together with a friend.

Setting up a Local Minecraft Server with Mods

Once you have configured the server to play on the same WiFi (LAN) network or using Hamachi, you can install mods and play with your friends with them. The instruction is very simple.

Install exactly the same mods on all clients, everything should be the exact same. Also, the Forge version should be the identical, ForgeOptiFine 1.2.2. Remember that the version should be with the TL icon!

Now create and connect to the server according to the same instructions above, depending on your network. You are now ready to play Minecraft with mods!

    Possible Problems and Solutions

    - An "Invalid Session or Check User Name" error occurs when you try to connect to the server.

Solution: You need to run the version with the TL icon (otherwise you need a game license). If you have exactly this one, ensure that the "Account Management", -> "Use Tlauncher skins", checkbox is checked (in the launcher).

    - When connecting to the server "Io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection time out: no further information" error appears.

Solution: The game cannot find information about such server. This means that the network configuration is incorrect. Try to disable anti-virus and firewall on the host computer or configure it correctly.

    - When connect to the server, chunk loading is in progress, but immediately after that the server drops the connection (there is a disconnection).

Solution: The network configuration is correct, but the antivirus and firewall are dropping the connection. You can disable them or configure them correctly.
