Minecraft Player Uses NASA Data to Create A 1:45 Scale Hawaiian Islands Map

At least we have videogames to keep us entertained in the middle of the pandemic. If you're looking for other places to explore, the Minecraft player has recreated the Hawaiian Islands in a "fully playable" map that has the entire chain of islands available to explore. Minecraft The map uses NASA and other satellite data to provide precise topography.

Frank Cesco, the creator of this map, explains that it's a 1:45 scale map. One-meter blocks now corresponds to 45 meters of ground in real life. The Y-axis scale is actually a bit exaggerated at 1:22, which helps create a more diverse map to navigate. The map is 16663 by 10,567 blocks, which means there's plenty of area to explore.

Instructions on how to download the map are provided in the description of the YouTube video by the creator. Frank Cesco's name may sound familiar due to the complete map of Europe that he published in the summer of 2012 at an even smaller scale of 1:130.
