'Minecraft' has Sold 176 million Copies Worldwide
Microsoft announced that it had sold 176 million copies of Minecraft which is quite a hop over the 156 million figures they revealed just seven months ago. Despite the hype surrounding games like Fortnite, Microsoft has kept the game fresh with things like the Dungeons online co-op mode, a free browser version, a forthcoming movie and now, an augmented reality version of the game called Minecraft Earth. Minecraft servers Microsoft said it has reached 200 million registered users on the Microsoft China edition and has completed 130 million Minecraft "Hour of Code" sessions.
When it begins ramping up the beta program for Earth and the stars, these figures could really take off. The new game is more immersive than Pokemon Go, the mobile AR champ. It looks very promising. Microsoft plans to gradually release Minecraft Earth around the world with a closed beta starting this summer.
