'Minecraft' Characters Come to "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 13th
You won't need to wait for too long to play a Minecraft character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Microsoft, Mojang and Nintendo have added to their teaser confirming that Steve and Alex will be available for SSBU brawling on October 13th, as part the Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2 collection. As promised, you'll also see a Minecraft-themed stage and seven music additions.
It's easy to see how these blocky avatars will fight. Pickaxes can be used to make simple attacks. But, you can also "mine” stages to create blocks (as defensive instruments) or make items to craft - there's even crafting tables. The final Smash for both characters involves the "House of Boom" that throws enemies into a massive pile of Creepers.
Vol. 2 of The Fighters Pass The Fighters Pass Vol. 2 collection is $30 and includes characters such as Arms'Min Min. If you're only interested in Minecraft however you can purchase a Challenger Pack for $6 and receive Steve and Alex.
The announcement came in tandem with the Minecraft Live virtual event that included a variety of announcements for the Minecraft games themselves. Most notable, Minecraft Dungeons cross-platform play is scheduled to launch in November for Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PCs. The Howling Peaks add-on for Minecraft proper, meanwhile is due to launch in December. Microsoft and Mojang are determined to keep Minecraft in the limelight and that includes the experience in other games.
