Minecraft 1.18.2 PC Java Edition is (MCPE 1.18.12 Bedrock Android Edition) the second part of Caves & Cliffs' update. It was created to double Minecraft's world size. All features will be added gradually until the end 2021. However, players can download it now on Android or PC to test the first beta versions and "Snapshots" for more information. This will give them an advantage on multiplayer servers which will soon be updated to 1.18.2.

Originally, certain of the below features were intended to appear in Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs. But, due to the pandemic the authors decided to split the update into 2 parts. In this second part of the update, the developers from Mojang Studio will make big changes to the game world, for example, the height of the world will increase by 128 blocks, that is, 64 blocks up into the sky and 64 blocks down. Coordinates will show that the bottom of the world (bedrock) will be at a height -64 blocks higher than it was previously (0), and the top at 320 blocks higher than it was previously 256.

Minecraft 1.18.2 Features


World Generation


The new generation of the universe includes a new height (320 block), as well as a new method for creating mountains and caverns. These have also received their own biomes. One of five biomes can be used to create mountains.


Now, the game will allow players to see real mountains. These are rocky peaks that extend high into and above the sky. These mountains can be as high as 320 blocks in height, which is a stunning feat of engineering.


Changes in Game World Size


- The game surface has increased 128 blocks, or 64 blocks in height,


- The height limit was previously 256 blocks. This has been reduced to 320. Also before that, the lowest block had a parameter of 0 points and now it is -64 points.


- The increase in depth of the game environment was negative for the first time in 12 year.


Generation of changed ore


- The Ore Generation System has been significantly redesigned. Now it is more complex.


- Ores such a coal, emerald or copper are not found below 0 points (previously they were at bottom of the world).


- Coal is now actively spawning on the surface (in the mountains) and close to the surface


- Emeralds spawn only in mountain biomes and high to the surface of biomes.


Copper and iron are closer to the surface. However, other ores lie deeper. Diamonds are most commonly found at the bottom of the earth.


New Types Of Caves


- Now, the player can find caves that are larger and more realistic than those found in the real world.


Currently, there is a choice of three types caves. These are water caves with water, cheese caves and spaghetti caves.


- Now there will be large, spacious, and sometimes incredibly huge caves in the world, and sometimes they are completely flooded with water.




Karst Caves


A new bios in the underworld. It is where the player can get dripstone blocks.


Lush Caves


- This is another biome of the underground cave system. It includes caves with different living green plants. There are blocks of moss, small plants, tree roots, azalea bushes, and other random items.


Clay pools can also be found there, which are illuminated by cave roots.




The Rift


- A deep and long rift in the ground, it's something like thinner and straighter than an ordinary canyon. It can be very deep, up to 90 blocks.
