    Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project is an crucial tool to realize the goal to change the way of thinking and transportation throughout Jerusalem. “The tunnel, which connects with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will connect the existing cycle routes within the city and will be paved within its different neighborhood. The tunnel is intended to encourage bicycle riding within the city’s residents and to promote the green revolution in transportation in Jerusalem.”

    The Kerem Tunnel was originally excavated in the year 1990 to relocate the main sewer of Gihon Corporation towards the Sorek purification facility. The plant is located west of Sorek and is still used as an infrastructure tunnel.
